![]() ![]() I have loved the work of EJ since my first encounter in 72 and the Johnstone, Murray, Olsson band is an unbelievable powerhouse of talent that fleshed out so many tunes. Personally, I think that once you've reached the dizzying heights of The Tower you just don't possess the drive, the hunger that inspired your climb there. Even genius has its logical limits before formulaic repetition or mediocrity set in. And that's not inconsistent with a trend of 8 or so years for bands before they start to wane. It's interesting that the album that was Elton and Bernie's bio-pic would be their crowning achievement. I really think it's the pinnacle which Elton to this day never surpassed and likely never will.
