![]() First point, and one for me to remember in the future when encountering this type of property, is that The Virgin Chicago is in a converted office building of some sort. Plus, The Virgin Chicago was offering a killer deal on a suite. There were only two upscale properties in the downtown area that weren’t eye crazy expensive….The Virgin Chicago, and the Fairmont, which was (relatively) poorly reviewed. But… I found myself needing to travel to Chicago for business, and all the properties I normally would have considered were outrageously priced. The vibe from the pictures as well as the Virgin Hotel website told me I wasn’t going to like it. This being the case, simply based on the pictures on the Amex Plat Travel site alone I would have NEVER stayed at the Virgin Hotel Chicago. As innocuous as possible, lest it risk being irritating. For my money, if a hotel isn’t luxurious and upscale (with 5-star accommodations and service) then it should be efficient and unobtrusive. We hope to be back again soon! What a lovely place.… Best of all, the staff are to a person friendly, efficient, and genuinely nice people. Right on the red line if you want to take the L further. All within easy walking distance of the waterfront parks, Riverwalk, and so much more in the Loop. ![]() (We heard the L train but it didn’t bother us at all, in fact it added to the city ambience for us.) With the Virgin app you can tip the staff electronically, super helpful. I slept like a rock, with my sleep app stats to prove it. The bed has an extra “seat” corner, the desk is flexible, and you can cast from your phone to the tv with ease (as well as other things). There’s a robe, yoga mat and even umbrella as well as signature scented toiletries. They’ve completely rethought the hotel room into a two-part chamber, making the space seem extra generous and adding comfort for couples not always on the same sleep schedule. There’s also a gym but we didn’t try it this trip. The rooftop bar has indoor and outdoor seating, with a nice view over the city, and live music on weekends. The Commons Club has been closed during the pandemic but there is a sophisticated lounge and “funny library” on the 2nd floor for a mini getaway. Miss Ricky’s is the chicest diner, with the most amazing salmon eggs Benedict, or you can get Brekkie if you’d like a taste of the UK. There’s a coffee shop with excellent espresso and tea drinks. There are many areas to relax in with a good vibe and high-end features. ![]() Virgin Hotels Chicago is one of the most fun and thoughtful hotels I’ve ever stayed in.
